Soon after Lipton's, the grocery chain, opened a branch at 25 High Street about 1920,
		   they applied for a license to sell alcohol on the premises. This aroused strong
		   opposition, and the leaflet shown here was published showing all the outlets in the
		   town centre where drink was available. It is thought that the application was turned down.
